ATLANTA -- Ricky Nolasco is trying to block out speculation he may soon be traded. Authentic Custom MLB Jerseys . The right-handers focus served him well against an Atlanta team that has given him the most trouble in his career. Nolasco tossed seven strong innings, Justin Ruggiano hit a three-run homer and the Miami Marlins beat the Braves 6-3 on Wednesday night. Nolasco managed a laugh when asked if it has become easier to deal with the possibility he could be traded from Miami, perhaps before he can make another start. "Easier?" he asked, apparently surprised by the question. "It is what it is," Nolasco said. "Its been going on for a while. Im not believing anything, Im trying not to read anything until something actually happens or if it happens. "Im just trying to block it out as much as I can, going out there and just trying to go every fifth day and eat up as many innings as I can and give us a chance to win. Whatever happens, happens is my mindset on it. I think thats been helping me out." Nolasco (5-8) allowed only two runs on six hits. He had no walks with seven strikeouts, giving him 1,001 for his career. The 1,000th strikeout came against Brian McCann to end the sixth with a runner on third. McCann hit a homer -- the eighth of his career off Nolasco -- in the fourth. "Its kind of funny the 1,000th K would be against the guy that has given me the most problems throughout my whole career, so at least I can say that," Nolasco said. Nolasco had one of the biggest at-bats of the game, a two-out walk in the fifth that set up Ruggianos homer. "Two-out walk to the pitcher," said Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez. "If its not in the rule book, it should be written in the rule book." The Braves led 2-0 before Ruggianos homer off Mike Minor (8-4) in the fifth. Miami added a run in the sixth when Placido Polanco singled and scored on Adeiny Hechavarrias double. Jeff Mathis added a two-run double in the eighth. There was steady rain but no delay in the game. Minor said the wet balls were a factor in his key walk to Nolasco. "I was trying to throw the ball right down the middle and I walked him," Minor said. "It was some of the balls I was getting back. I really didnt complain about it because both pitchers are pitching in it. No matter what ball I got back, it was still wet from being on the side." After Chad Qualls pitched a scoreless eighth, Mike Dunn gave up singles to Freddie Freeman and Dan Uggla in the ninth. Closer Steve Cishek struck out B.J. Upton before giving up a run-scoring single to Chris Johnson. Cishek earned his 16th save when Tyler Pastornicky hit a grounder to the mound to end the game. The Marlins got their first victory in five games against the Braves this season and ended an eight-game losing streak in the NL East rivalry, dating to Sept. 19, 2012. Nolasco improved to 6-10 in his career against Atlanta. He holds the Marlins franchise record with 81 career wins. "He made his pitches," said Marlins manager Mike Redmond. "It was fun to watch him. I know it wasnt easy, but he battled. That pretty much sums up Ricky." Minor couldnt overcome a key walk. Donovan Solano led off Miamis fifth with a double to right field before advancing to third on a wild pitch. Minor struck out Hechavarria and Jeff Mathis before walking Nolasco. Ruggianos homer to left field gave the Marlins a 3-2 lead. B.J. Upton led off the third with an infield single and scored on Andrelton Simmons single to right. Brian McCann pushed the lead to 2-0 by using a golf swing to line a low pitch from Nolasco over the right-field wall with one out in the fourth. Minor gave up four runs on six hits and three walks in six innings. He has only one win in six starts since posting a 4-0 record and 1.98 ERA in May. Each of Ruggianos 12 homers has come on the road. According to STATS and the SABR Home Run Log, that is tied for the seventh-most consecutive road homers to open a season. The record is 17 by Washingtons Goose Goslin in 1926. The Dodgers James Loney also hit his first 12 homers on the road in 2009. Hi Mr. Fraser, When I was watching the Heritage Classic in Vancouver there was a play midway through the third where Ottawa crashed the Canucks net and it came off its moorings.SAN DIEGO -- Its been a bumpy road for the Los Angeles Dodgers since they returned stateside after beginning the season with two wins against Arizona in Australia. Reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw is expected to miss the bulk of April with a swollen muscle in his left upper back, and now reliever Brian Wilson will be placed on the disabled list with what manager Don Mattingly said is nerve irritation in his right elbow. The Dodgers did manage to beat the San Diego Padres 3-2 on Tuesday after Kenley Jansen escaped a bases-loaded jam in the ninth inning. Yasiel Puig hit a 410-foot drive for a two-run homer and Zack Greinke threw five strong innings to win his season debut. Mattingly said Wilson had an MRI on Monday that showed nerve irritation. Mattingly said there was no sign of ligament damage. Wilson had reconstructive surgery in April 2012. "The MRI overall was not good news, but it was better than it could have been," Mattingly said. "I was pleased and relieved that it wasnt something bigger than what it is. We feel like its something that just needs to calm down and then kind of built going the other direction." The Dodgers bullpen has had a rough go since returning from Sydney. Wilson allowed three runs in the eighth inning of Sunday nights 3-1 loss, and Jansen had to dance out of trouble in the ninth on Tuesday. The Padres loaded the bases with two out on singles by Yonder Alonso and Will Venable, and a walk to Yasmani Grandal. Jansen then struck out pinch-hitter Nick Hundley to earn his second save in two chances. Mattingly thinks the bullpen is going to be fine over time. "Weve had one bad inning, really. Were getting it done, but its just a little rough right now," he said. "Its not as smooth as it can be. Confident with our guys I think as we get into the normal work, normal days, well be OK." Carl Crawford started the game with a base hit and Puig then drove a 2-1 pitch from Ian Kennedy into the balcony on the third deck of the Western Metal Supply Co. Building in the left-field corner. It was his first homer. "At the time, when it happens so fast, I dont know if I caught too much plate," Kennedy said. "He did a really good job of getting his hands up. Hes a really good hitter. Puig did a good job of hitting what I thought was a good pitch. Fake MLB Jerseys 2020. But hes one of the best hitters in the National League." It was the second time Kennedy faced the Dodgers since June 11, when, while with Arizona, he hit Puig and Greinke with pitches, inciting a brawl at Dodger Stadium. Kennedy was suspended 10 games. He was traded to the Padres on July 31. Greinke retired his first 10 batters before Seth Smith homered into a party deck atop the right-field wall, trimming San Diegos deficit to 3-1. Smith earned the start in left field against the right-handed Greinke after homering to start an eighth-inning rally in a 3-1 win Sunday night. Greinke (1-0) went five innings, allowing two runs and two hits while striking out five and walking two. The Dodgers took a 3-0 lead in the fourth when Dee Gordon singled in Juan Uribe. Uribe doubled to right-centre with two outs and took third on second baseman Jedd Gyorkos error. Gyorko had gone into the shallow outfield to take the throw from right fielder Chris Denorfia. He turned and started to throw, but apparently realized there was no play at third and tried to hold up, losing his grip on the ball. That allowed Uribe to advance. San Diego pulled to 3-2 in the fifth when Gyorko drew a leadoff walk and eventually scored on wild pitch. Kennedy (0-1) allowed three runs and five hits in five innings. Greinke was making his third start in San Diego since the Dodgers and Padres brawled here on April 11. That melee started after Greinke hit Carlos Quentin with a pitch. Quentin rushed the mound and slammed into Greinke, whose left collarbone was broken. Quentin started this season on the disabled list with a bone bruise in his left knee. NOTES: Kershaw wont be ready to come off the disabled list when hes eligible to be activated on April 14. The Dodgers said Kershaw will slowly work his way back for the next two to three weeks. He will then be re-evaluated to determine when he can start throwing at increased velocity. Kershaw will likely have to make a rehab start before he can return, Mattingly said. ... The series concludes Wednesday night when Dan Haren of the Dodgers and Tyson Ross of the Padres make their 2014 debuts. ... To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Petco Park opening, David Wells (first start), Brian Giles (first hit) and Mark Loretta (first Padres home run) threw out ceremonial first pitches. ' ' '
